LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 24, 2025) — From transportation assistance to software downloads, did you know the University of Kentucky offers several resources and services that can make life a little easier for students?

Here’s a rundown of some of the valuable resources available to you:

  • Uber vouchers. Getting around Lexington without a car, or limited access to one, can be a challenge. The university partners with Uber to provide Wildcab Vouchers, particularly for safe rides home in the evenings. These vouchers can be accessed through UK’s Transportation Services website
  • Media subscriptions. Stay informed with a free digital subscription to The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. This includes unlimited access to articles, newsletters and even the “NYT Cooking” and “Games” sections. To activate your free subscription, visit accessnyt.com or education.wsj.com/students and register with your UK email address.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud. For students who need access to design, video editing and/or photography programs, UK provides Adobe Creative Cloud (this includes Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro). Students can download the software by logging into the university’s Adobe portal using their linkblue credentials. View all software download options here
  • LinkedIn Learning. Looking to build new skills outside the classroom? Students have access to LinkedIn Learning — an online platform offering thousands of video courses on topics ranging from business and technology to creative arts. It’s a great way to boost your resume or learn a new hobby.
  • UK Libraries and online journals. UK Libraries offers numerous academic journal, e-book and research databases. Whether you need peer-reviewed articles for a paper, or just want to explore a topic, resources like JSTOR, PubMed and LexisNexis are available through their website
  • Counseling and mental health services. Prioritize yourself with mental health and wellness programs through the UK Counseling Center. Students can schedule individual therapy sessions, participate in group counseling or attend workshops on stress management and mindfulness. For more information, visit TRACS. Students also have access to Talkspace therapy credits, which provide online mental health support through text, voice and video messaging with licensed therapists.
  • Food resources. No student should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. The Big Blue Pantry provides groceries and essential food items to students facing food insecurity. Additionally, ONE Community Café, located on the second floor of Erikson Hall, offers balanced, nutritious meals for just $1.
  • Gym and fitness classes. Access to the Johnson Center and Alumni Gym is included in student fees, meaning you can work out, take group fitness classes and even use the climbing wall with your student membership.
  • Legal services. Students can access legal advice through the Student Government Association’s Legal Services program. Whether you have questions about leases, traffic violations or other legal concerns, this resource provides professional guidance at no cost.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
