UPDATE — June 25, 2025: Volunteer interest has been strong, and Campus Housing is pleased to share that the Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. shifts are now full. However, they are still seeking volunteers to support other available shifts taking place Sunday through Wednesday. Sign up online by July 14.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 5, 2025) — As thousands of first-time, first-year students prepare to arrive on campus in August, the University of Kentucky is asking faculty, staff and returning students to help provide a warm welcome

UK Campus Housing seeks volunteers to join the Wildcat Welcome Team for Big Blue Move-In, Aug. 17-20. Volunteers play an important role in making the move-in experience smooth, supportive and memorable for incoming students and their familes and friends.

Whether greeting new Wildcats, assisting with unloading vehicles or offering directions around campus, volunteers help create a welcoming environment during one of the most important moments in a student’s college journey.

Volunteer perks include:

  • A free meal at The 90 or Champions Kitchen during each volunteer shift.

  • An exclusive Big Blue Move-In T-shirt to show off your Wildcat spirit.

  • Early move-in opportunities for UK student volunteers.

  • Chance to win tickets to the first football game of the season.

Shifts are available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, and volunteers are welcome to sign up for as little as a few hours each day or as much as a full day.

Interested in helping out? Sign up online by July 14.

After registering, volunteers will receive an email with shift confirmations and additional details. For questions, contact UKMoveIn@uky.edu.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
