UK HR Elder Care to celebrate Older Americans Month with series of events
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 8, 2025) — In celebration of Older Americans Month, University of Kentucky Human Resrouces Elder Care is hosting three virtual workshops throughout May, offering support and resources for UK employees who are caring for their loved ones.
Established in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy, Older Americans Month is a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of older Americans, highlight issues about aging trends and reaffirm our commitment to supporting our older generations.
“The fountain of youth is not a place or thing, it’s a way of looking at things, a way of thinking,” said Hazel Teichen, UK HR elder care specialist. “Age is just the number of candles on your birthday cake.”
Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month. This year’s theme, Flip the Script on Aging, encourages a fresh and empowering narrative about growing older. UK HR Elder Care’s workshops will help participants discover resources to support family connection and explore opportunities to remain engaged.
“We are all on an aging journey, and it is important to consider our approach and perspective on aging,” said Azetta Beatty, UK HR Work-Life Benefits manager. “Getting older does not have to be scary or intimidating. We can age gracefully.”
