Sanitary line relocation work to begin on Upper Street

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 18, 2025) — Contractors will begin utility work on Upper Street near the Peterson Service Building and Cornerstone Garage as early as Monday, July 21. Upper Street will remain open, but traffic lanes will shift throughout the project.

On-street parking in the area will be limited, as those spaces will be temporarily repurposed to support traffic. Motorists should expect possible delays and exercise caution while traveling in the vicinity.

Work will also take place on the sidewalk between Upper Street and the Taylor Education Building, requiring temporary sidewalk closure. One sidewalk parallel to Upper Street will remain open; this will switch between the east and west sides of Upper Street as work progresses.

This project is expected to be completed by mid-September.
