LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 8, 2025) — University of Kentucky Transportation Services is once again offering free, covered storage over Winter Break for vehicles and bicycles.

Students with a valid UK parking permit who wish to move their vehicle to Cornerstone Garage (PS #5) — a covered parking structure — over Winter Break should stop by the UK Transportation Services office to pick up a free holiday parking pass.

Passes are available for pick up starting Monday, Dec. 8, and are valid in Cornerstone Garage starting Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Holiday passes will be available to the first 200 students. They provide for covered storage in Cornerstone Garage starting 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, to 5:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, with one free exit.

If you wish to use a holiday parking pass, bring your student ID to our office, and be prepared to verify the make, model and license plate number of your vehicle. The customer service center is located at 721 Press Ave., and hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

How to use a holiday pass

Students who pick up a holiday pass will be provided with the pass and a validation coupon. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. When entering Cornerstone Garage, pull a visitor ticket from the ticket dispenser at the entrance.
  2. Keep the entry ticket inside your vehicle.
  3. Display the holiday parking pass on your dashboard.
  4. Upon returning to campus after Winter Break, exit Cornerstone Garage by first scanning your entry ticket and then scanning the validation coupon. This will grant you one free exit from the structure.

Relocate your vehicle to your authorized parking area before 5:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12. Otherwise, you will be charged an exit fee.

Students with residential or periphery permits may also choose to leave their vehicles in their regular authorized parking areas over Winter Break if they wish to do so.

Free covered bike storage at Wildcat Wheels

If you usually travel on two wheels, you can also keep your bicycle under cover at Wildcat Wheels. Students and employees can securely store their bikes out of the elements at the shop, located on the first floor Sports Center Garage (PS #7).

Bikes will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis starting Monday, Dec. 8.

You must have a UK bicycle permit to participate in the holiday bike storage program. If you don’t already have one, Wildcat Wheels’ staff will issue free permits during bicycle drop-off days.

Any bicycles not picked up by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan.16, will incur a storage fee of $2.50 per day.
