Education Abroad & Exchanges to host Fall Fair, Flamenco on the Commons
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 3, 2026) — University of Kentucky students can explore opportunities to take their education around the world during two upcoming events hosted by UK Education Abroad & Exchanges (EA).
The annual Education Abroad & Exchanges Fall Fair will return Wednesday, Sept. 9, followed by the inaugural Flamenco on the Commons Thursday, Sept. 10. Together, the events offer students opportunities to learn more about studying abroad and experience a taste of international culture on campus.
Education Abroad & Exchanges Fall Fair
The Education Abroad & Exchanges Fall Fair, EA’s largest event of the year, will be held 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Alumni Commons.
More than 1,300 students attended last year’s fair, which brings together representatives from UK colleges, faculty, campus resources, international program providers and the EA team. Students can explore programs, connect with representatives and begin planning an education abroad experience that fits their academic and personal goals.
“The Education Abroad Fall Fair is a one-stop-shop opportunity for students to learn about all things education abroad,” said Niamh Larson, executive director of UK Education Abroad & Exchanges. “This event is perfect for any UK student, whether you know exactly which program you want to go on or if you’re just exploring the countless education abroad possibilities available to you. We aim to make education abroad accessible for all UK students, and this event does just that.”
The event will also feature food, giveaways and opportunities for students to win funding for a summer education abroad program.
Each hour, one attendee will be randomly selected to spin a prize wheel for the chance to win a full EA summer program scholarship to an international destination. Free T-shirts will also be available while supplies last.

Flamenco on the Commons
The following day, EA will bring a taste of Spain to campus with the inaugural Flamenco on the Commons, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Alumni Commons.
The new event, co-hosted with education abroad provider WorldStrides, celebrates Spain, which was the top destination for UK Education Abroad programs last year.
Students can experience Spanish culture through live flamenco and Spanish guitar performances, along with a paella-making demonstration and sampling. WorldStrides will also welcome its program director from Granada, Spain, to campus for the event.
“This event will truly bring the world to campus,” Larson said. “We know not every student wants to or is able to study abroad, and so by hosting this event, anyone on campus can get a taste of the iconic culture of Spain and see why it is such a popular choice.”

Although the events offer students different ways to engage with international experiences, Larson said both are part of EA’s larger goal of connecting UK students with the world around them.
“Our goal is to help UK students experience the world around them,” Larson said. “We know these global experiences build key skills and lead to academic and career success for our students. These events are wonderful ways for our students to connect with Education Abroad and discover which global experience might be right for them.”
