University Leadership Forum to Highlight Inclusive Leadership
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 10, 2016) — University of Kentucky faculty and staff at all levels have an opportunity to network across campus and develop their leadership skills with the second annual University Leadership Forum, Oct. 25-27.
The theme of this year's forum is “Inclusive Leadership.” It builds on the university’s efforts to foster a community where everyone can feel a sense of belonging.
Registration is available online. Faculty and staff may sign up to attend as many sessions as their schedule allows.
The forum is highlighted by two keynote speakers. Stephen Young, senior partner with Insight Education Systems, will present the opening keynote address 8:45 a.m., Oct. 25, at the Singletary Center for the Arts. Young will discuss “Micro Messaging: Why Great Leadership is Beyond Words,” which is also the title of his book.
Leslie Traub is partner and chairperson of Cook Ross Inc., which is working with the university on its Unconscious Bias Initiative. Traub will present an address titled “Hallmarks of Inclusive Leadership” 8:30 a.m., Oct. 27, at the Hilary J. Boone Center.
The forum will also include the following sessions:
- "Inclusive Leadership in the Hiring Process";
- "Microinequities: The Power of Small";
- "Many Colors of the Rainbow: Making Space, Showing Up, Creating Change";
- "Inclusion in the Classroom";
- "Cultural Intelligence"; and
- "Servant Leadership: Leading with Trust, Respect and Empowerment."
