LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 29, 2016) — The University of Kentucky James W. Stuckert Career Center and UK Human Resources-Student Employment will host a Part-time Jobs Fair on Aug. 31.
The jobs fair will connect students seeking part-time employment with local employers interested in hiring UK students. Students seeking internship employment opportunities will find resources as well.
Students must pre-register to attend. For more information and to register, visit https://uky-csm.symplicity.com/events/12513a28734d233f487e57eaea8f0883/overview
The event is slated 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, in White Hall Classroom Building. Twenty-nine employers are expected to attend, including UK Dining, Republic Bank, Macy’s, Keeneland Association, Meijer, UK Office of Annual Giving, Bluegrass Kettle Masters, Cabela’s, UPS, Weed Man Lawn Care, FedEx, UK STEPS Service Center, Raising Cane’s, YMCA, Marrillia Design and Construction, Enterprise Holdings and others.
Business casual dress is encouraged, but not required. Students should bring their student ID for admittance and several copies of their resume. Students can stop by the Career Center to get their resume critiqued before the event.
“To make a good impression,” said Melanie Barber, the Career Center’s director for employer relations and community partnerships, “students should approach an employer by themselves (versus with a group of friends). Make sure to smile, be confident, make eye contact, and use a firm handshake. Demonstrate that you researched the employer and practiced your conversation starter.”
