LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 9, 2017) — Student Activities Board (SAB) is excited to announce Viola Davis as the Speak Blue speaker 8 p.m., March 2, at the Singletary Center for the Arts Concert Hall.
Viola Davis is an award-winning actress who is currently starring in Shonda Rhimes’ ABC drama "How to Get Away with Murder." This role has earned her two Screen Actors Guild Awards, an NAACP Image Award and two Golden Globe nominations. She recently won a Golden Globe for the Best Supporting Actress in the film "Fences" and is nominated for an Oscar for the same performance. Davis fell in love with theater in high school and her passion and dedication to her craft has led her to be one of the most influential women in the business. She will discuss her career and how overcoming adversities and preconceived restrictions have all contributed to reinforcing her abilities as an artist.
“Viola Davis is a phenomenal actress and woman," said Libby Langlois, SAB director of Pop Culture. "I have yet to come across a person who isn't taken by the passion she exudes. I absolutely cannot wait to hear her words and share the energy that she will bring to the room with everyone who attends.”
