See 'The Nutcracker' for Less with Employee Discount
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 4, 2012) — Ask a group of people about their favorite childhood holiday memory and it is likely more than a few will respond, “Ahhh…‘The Nutcracker,’ of course!”
The Lexington Ballet presents its annual holiday classic Dec. 7-16 at the Lexington Opera House. This year, the ballet company is also gifting University of Kentucky employees a $3 discount on adult ticket prices.
The story is timeless. Toymaker Herr Drosselmeyer presents little Clara with a special gift, a nutcracker, on Christmas Eve. At midnight the magical nutcracker awakens from an evil spell to lead an army of Gingerbread soldiers against the forces of the Mouse King. With Clara’s help the Mouse King is defeated, and the Nutcracker, now a handsome prince, takes Clara to the beautiful Land of Sweets where she encounters the Sugar Plum Fairy who rewards her bravery by crowning her queen of The Land of Sweets.
