Crunch Brunch Volunteers Sought

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 2, 2009) – Who says that all-nighters have to end when you graduate from college! Student Activities Board (SAB) invites faculty and staff to relive their college days and participate in one of UK's most popular traditions, Midnight Finals Crunch Brunch.

For the first year, the event is being planned for students by students by SAB and is being supported by the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union.

Designed to offer students a relaxing and lighthearted break from the stress of finals, Crunch Brunch will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight on the first evening of finals week, Monday, Dec. 14, at Memorial Coliseum. Crunch Brunch will offer students a variety of free brunch foods served by faculty, staff and administrators as well as several fun activities, such as challenging UK President Lee T. Todd Jr. to a game of pool.

The serving of the brunch by “celebrity” faculty, staff and administrators is a key component of this event, as it demonstrates support for the student experience and allows for a communal celebration of a semester’s accomplishments. Consequently, SAB is asking faculty and staff to join their colleagues in a show of support for UK students as they face this very stressful time.

While volunteers are invited to enjoy the entire evening, organizers ask that they commit to a shift serving brunch food to students. Two shifts are scheduled during the evening, 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.

Faculty and staff are invited to join the president and the many other campus celebrities who have already committed. Please register online by Monday, Dec. 7, at www.uksab.org.

Faculty and staff "participation is an integral aspect to the success of Crunch Brunch," said Aimee Glindmeyer, SAB director of campus life.
