FUSION Faculty and Staff Leaders Needed

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 18, 2010) - We have made it to June, students have gone home and things are a little quieter on campus. Although it seems like summer has only just begun, it is already time to start thinking about August. We will welcome all of our new Wildcats before we know it, and the planning for K Week is in full swing. UK FUSION is a Kentucky tradition, and this community service project needs help from UK’s faculty and staff.

In its eighth year, FUSION has grown rapidly and hopes to send 1,500 students out to complete three hours of volunteer community service on Monday, Aug. 23, while visiting more than 100 sites. The group size varies but each site will have at least one student leader and one faculty/staff leader.

Faculty/staff leaders are responsible for supporting their student leader in leading the group, encouraging inclusion among all the volunteers, and participating in community service along with the group. Volunteer activities range from painting or playing with kids to organizing offices or landscaping.

Faculty/staff leaders are asked to join FUSION volunteers on Haggin Field at 9 a.m. Aug. 23, and will return about 3 p.m. If you are interested in helping with FUSION 2010, please e-mail ukfusion2010@gmail.com or stacie.schultz@uky.edu.
