Get Involved With Staff Senate

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 27, 2018)  Are you interested in being involved in the University of Kentucky? Nominations for UK Staff Senate will be accepted April 2-27.

The Staff Senate represents more than 15,000 University of Kentucky staff members, both on and off campus, in 120 counties. Acting as a liaison between staff and the administration, the Staff Senate hosts events on campus, including UK Appreciation Day, UK Remembers, Outstanding Staff Awards, Conversation with the President, and Chat with the Provost. Members of the Staff Senate assist with charitable resources for staff and are asked to participate in many campus-wide committees. The Staff Senate also hopes to continue to increase professional development opportunities during the coming years.

“There are three things every employee wants from their workplace,” Staff Senate Chair Jon Gent said. “They want to find their job interesting, they want to feel recognized for doing a good job, and they want to know what is going on at their university. Participation in the Staff Senate allows you to do all three. We always have a need to find the next leaders of staff, and we’d love to have you.”

Nominees must be permanent staff members with at least six months of continuous service and a three-quarter time appointment (.75 FTE) or greater.

Check out the nomination form and guidelines on the elections page of the Staff Senate website.
