New MoveWell Membership Options Offer Ways to Increase Physical Activity
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 13, 2020) — If you are a University of Kentucky employee who has made a commitment to better well-being in 2021, a MoveWell membership through UK Human Resources Health and Wellness may help you achieve your goals. Now there are three membership options to accommodate your available time, your location and your workout style: the traditional MoveWell membership, MoveWell Virtual membership and All Access Fitness membership.
The MoveWell memberships offer three different options:
MoveWell membership — $7/monthThis basic membership offers you:
- access to both MoveWell at Export and MoveWell at Seaton
- all in-person group fitness classes
- all virtual classes
- access to an extensive on-demand virtual library
- in-person training sessions with one of our exercise specialists
If you want to maintain or increase your movement but prefer off-site convenience, this membership offers:
- access to all virtual classes
- access to a comprehensive on-demand virtual library
- training sessions — 2 per year, online
The most robust membership offers access to multiple facilities as well as additional class opportunities:
- access to both MoveWell at Export and MoveWell at Seaton
- access to both Johnson Center and Alumni Gym through Campus Recreation and Wellness
- membership to the Lancaster Aquatic Center
- all in-person group fitness classes — both HR Health and Wellness and Campus Recreation and Wellness
- all virtual classes — both HR Health and Wellness and Campus Recreation and Wellness
- access to an extensive on-demand virtual library
- in-person training sessions at MoveWell at Export or Seaton with one of the exercise specialists
“We are really pleased to offer these three membership types,” said HR Health and Wellness exercise specialist Carrie Davidson, EdD, ACSM EP-C, RYT 500. “We feel there is a membership to fit any employee or spouse. We collaborated with Campus Recreation and Wellness to develop the All Access Fitness membership. It really works well for people who come onto campus and enjoy the different features and classes available at each of each of the four locations: MoveWell Export, MoveWell Seaton, the Johnson Center or Alumni gym. The MoveWell Virtual membership is perfect for those who work remotely — whether they are in Kentucky, outside the United States or just unable to get to campus. Since it includes live virtual classes and a comprehensive virtual library, it's more of an on-demand membership. The regular MoveWell membership is great for employees and spouses who live in and around the Lexington area and still want to have the amenities of a full gym, with a lower price. This is also helpful for those who wish to workout in a gym exclusively for employees and their spouses.”

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
