UK Open Enrollment Ends Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 10, 2011) — The UK Employee Benefits Open Enrollment for the upcoming 2011-12 plan year will end Friday, May 13. Open Enrollment provides employees with the opportunity to update UK benefit offerings for themselves, their dependents and/or beneficiaries. Generally, re-enrollment is not required unless one needs to add, drop or change coverage or start/continue annual participation in flexible spending accounts.

For complete details on this year’s Open Enrollment, visit http://www.uky.edu/HR/OE. The site features updates on benefit rates for the upcoming plan year, which begins July 1. The site also features a schedule of upcoming Open House events. These events give you an opportunity to discuss Open Enrollment choices with Employee Benefits specialists, as well as representatives from various providers.

Employees may also learn more from the Open Enrollment newsletter mailed to their home. Because it replaces larger benefit packets mailed to employees’ homes in past years, this streamlined publication means a more environmentally friendly and more cost-effective Open Enrollment. Total Compensation Statements, which were formerly included with benefit packets, are available now through myUK Employee Self-Service online (see Open Enrollment site for details).

University health plan premiums will remain the same for the upcoming plan year. Rates for most other benefit plans will also remain unchanged. This includes UK’s vision benefit, which will actually see enhanced coverage even as rates actually decrease.

The upcoming plan year marks the introduction of a new flexible spending account (FSA) administrator, ConnectYourCare.  With this change, participants will enjoy the convenience of automatically receiving two FSA debit cards with no additional paperwork. Visit the Open Enrollment website for more details regarding this transition.

There are two Open Enrollment options: enroll online or submit paper forms.

1. Employees may enroll online through myUK Employee Self-Service (ESS) online at http://myuk.uky.edu. See the Open Enrollment newsletter received in the mailor the Open Enrollment website for the online enrollment “quick start” guide.

2. Submit paper enrollment forms. Print forms online at http://www.uky.edu/HR/OE or pick up paper forms at 112 Scovell Hall or 375 Peterson Service Building.

This year’s Open Enrollment highlights the university’s commitment to offering an attractive benefits package for its employees. For more information about benefit options, contact the Employee Benefits Office at (859) 257-9519, option 3 or e-mail benefits@email.uky.edu.
