LEXINGTON, Ky. (April, 15, 2021)  University of Kentucky Appreciation Day (UKAD) is back and better than ever! Appreciation Day 2021, planned for later this year, will look a little different from the past, but still holding on to some of the same traditions and activities UK employees enjoy.

UKAD T-shirt design voting is back!

UK employees can vote now through April 30 for their favorite T-shirt design. All graphics were designed by fellow UK employees. The design with the most votes will be printed on this year’s T-shirt to be given away at a designated time and location later in August. To vote, click here.

Department T-shirt orders

Department orders for Appreciation Day T-shirts must be completed through the Staff Senate online order form no later than May 31, 2021. Every department that completes the form will receive an immediate follow-up message signaling confirmation of the order. Our committee advises you to check your quantities/sizes ordered and save this message for the future.

A confirmation number will be sent by Aug. 2  to the main contact who placed the department order. Shirts will be distributed Wednesday, Aug. 4, at multiple locations: Kroger Field President’s Pavilion and in UK HealthCare Chandler Hospital. The Staff Senate Special Events committee is currently working on a third location for UK HealthCare Good Samaritan employees who are unable to travel due to patient care responsibilities. There will be designated parking the day of pick-up, with no permit required to enter. Orders that are not claimed the day of the distribution, will be distributed back to the Staff Senate Special Events committee.

You can place your department order here.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
