UK's Euler, McDaniel Honored as Golf All-America Scholars

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 1, 2018) University of Kentucky men’s golfers Lukas Euler and Chip McDaniel were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for their outstanding effort both on and off the course.

Euler and McDaniel are two of 265 players in Division I golf to claim the honor. To be eligible a player must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of the team’s competition, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. Both players were named to the Southeastern Conference’s Academic Honor Roll. The duo also helped the Wildcats become one of 24 Division I teams to earn the President’s Special Recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America. It is the highest honor given to teams who have maintained a 3.5 grade-point average or better for the 2017-18 academic year.

Kentucky enjoyed one of its most prolific seasons in program history in 2017-18. Kentucky advanced to its 10th appearance in the NCAA Championship after a dramatic come-from-behind finish in the NCAA Regional on the final day of play. UK won four regular-season tournaments, including a record-setting three in a row to begin the fall slate.

McDaniel, a 2018 UK graduate with a degree in accounting, was responsible for the dramatic finish at the NCAA Regional to push the Cats into the NCAA Championship. He holed-out for an eagle on the 18th hole to secure the fifth and final spot from the Texas A&M Regional. McDaniel utilized a 72.31 stroke average and posted seven top-20 finishes, including a win at the Bearcat Invitational during his senior season.

Euler, a finance major, enjoyed a breakout junior campaign on the course. He had a career-low average of 72.25 with a squad-best eight top-20 finishes. He also had career-low scores for a round (67) and a tournament (205).
