It's A UK Tradition!
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 14, 2009) – All-nighters, highlighters and lots of coffee usually sum up many students' finals week traditions. However, one of UK's favorite traditions hopes to alleviate some of the stress of finals week, even if it's just for one night. Midnight Finals Crunch Brunch is from 9 p.m. until midnight tonight, Monday, Dec. 14, at Memorial Coliseum on UK's campus.
"Midnight Finals Crunch Brunch offer students a relaxing and lighthearted break from the stress of finals," Aimee Glindmeyer, Student Activities Board (SAB) campus life director, said. This is the first year that SAB has taken over the reins of planning this event. "We are so excited to plan Crunch Brunch for students by students, but we couldn't do it without the help of many friends and partners across campus including the UK Federal Credit Union, Campus Recreation and Dining Services."
Crunch Brunch features a free hot breakfast served by many "UK celebrities" including administrators, faculty and staff members. Students can also get free five-minute chair massages, try out an oxygen bar and play games for the chance to win free stuff – including UK basketball tickets.
Of course, the two highlights of Crunch Brunch are back. Students can try their hand at a game of pool against President Todd to win a pair of UK basketball tickets. And the famous free long-sleeve T-shirt is back while they last!
"Everyone loves the long-sleeve T-shirt," Glindmeyer said.
SAB is also offering bus service to and from the event. Buses will be picking up at "The 90" (behind the Kirwan-Blanding Complex at Hilltop and Woodland Avenues) and near sorority circle on the corner of Rose Street and Columbia Avenue. Buses will drop off at flag plaza, across from Memorial Coliseum on Avenue of Champions.
The exterior doors of Memorial Coliseum will open at 8 p.m. Staff from the UK Federal Credit Union will be on hand with hot chocolate for students while they wait.
