LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 19 , 2018) University of Kentucky Education Abroad and Exchanges (UK EA) will host the Education Abroad Spring Fair and Funding Headquarters 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the William T. Young Library.

“For anyone at all interested — or even just curious — about global learning opportunities, the Education Abroad Spring Fair and Funding Headquarters is the best place to explore the variety of programs available. Cost and financial support are a big part of the conversation, so we’ve dedicated an entire section of the fair just to funding,” said Miko McFarland, executive director of Education Abroad and Exchanges.

The Spring Fair will take place in The Hub of Young Library, while the Funding Headquarters will be take place in the Alumni Gallery, located on the first floor of the library by the University Drive entrance.

For all things money-related, students will be directed to the Funding Headquarters in the Alumni Gallery. UK EA staff and campus partners, such as the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships and the Robert E. Hemenway Writing Center staff, will be available to meet with students to provide them with insights into navigating the education abroad scholarship process from start to finish.

"UK EA is excited to host a combined fair and scholarship event this spring to maximize students' time at one event,” McFarland said. “Our goal is to make their information-gathering experience just as fulfilling as their future education abroad program."

During the Spring Fair, students will gain in-depth information on various education abroad offerings, such as study, intern, research, teach and service abroad. Students can also explore domestic and international exchange program options, which includes $40,000+ in automatic scholarships and program reductions available for select exchange programs. UK EA advisors, faculty and program representatives will be available to discuss education abroad options for all majors. UK campus departments, such as the Wildcat Passport Acceptance Facility and James W. Stuckert Career Center, will have representatives at the fair to share services and resources to further assist interested students in the education abroad process.

In the Funding HQ, students will be able to visit tables for information on:

  • budgeting and finance tips;
  • how to search for scholarships;
  • what to avoid in essays; and
  • draft essay review.

Important education abroad scholarship deadlines are Feb. 1 for summer and April 1 for fall 2018 programs. Students are encouraged to research scholarship opportunities and bring a draft of a scholarship essay to make the most of their time at the Funding HQ. Scholarships can be searched on UK EA's website here.

Students will also enjoy free pizza and giveaways and are encouraged to visit the following fair sponsors:
