An Evening With Lauren Potter

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2014) — The Student Activities Board is proud to present motivational speaker Lauren Potter. The event will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in Center Theater, located in the Student Center on UK's campus. This event is sponsored by SAB’s Pop Culture Committee and will be free for all attendees.

Best known as for her portrayl of Becky Jackson, a cheerleader with Down syndrome on the hit television show, "Glee," attendees will be able to listen to the inspirational story of Potter and how she overcame all the challenges of being an actress with Down syndrome. Throughout her life, Potter was told that she "couldn’t" do anything because of her disability, but Potter has proven that she can and now she is in her fifth season on "Glee."

"Lauren Potter is going to be a really fun event, and I am really looking forward to hearing her talk about her life and how she has overcome the challenges that have confronted her,” Brenton Smith, SAB director of pop culture, said. “The Q&A session also offers a great chance for our audience to get her take on specific situations and connect on a more personal level. This should be an all-around great event."

SAB brings more than 100 entertaining educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
