LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 4, 2014) — The Student Activities Board Concerts Committee is hosting the band Houndmouth with special guest Andrea Davidson Thursday, Sept. 18, at 8 p.m. The concert will take place in downtown Lexington at Kentucky Theater, 214 E Main Street.

“As Wildcats, we're always proud of our ties to Kentucky. However, one week each year, SAB gives campus a chance to remember why with 'Kentucky Week.' As a part of Kentucky Week, the concerts committee is bringing one of the most popular bands affiliated with our state, Houndmouth, to one of the most heritage-rich venues in our state, the Kentucky Theater,” Jordan Keeton, SAB director of concerts, said.

Houndmouth is an alternative country band that formed in 2011. Band members include Matt Myers, Katie Toupin, Zak Appleby and Shane Cody. They have performed on Letterman, Conan and at several major music festivals, such as Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo.

“I'm excited for this event because it's a great opportunity for our students to learn that there's more to the Kentucky music scene than bluegrass. For those students who don't already know about Houndmouth, I think they'll be pleasantly surprised at the talent found nearby,” stated Keeton.

Tickets are available to students with a valid UK ID for $5 and to the general public for $15. Student tickets can be purchased in the Student Involvement Ticket Center, located at 253 Student Center. General public tickets can be purchased at the Student Involvement Ticket Center and www.showclix.com.

Buses from campus to the Kentucky Theater will be available to students from 6:30 p.m. until midnight. Campus stops include Complex Drive/Johnson Center Front Entrance, in front of William T. Young Library and Avenue of Champions bus stop by Alumni Gym.

Involvement is an important part of any student’s experience and growth at the University of Kentucky. The Student Activities Board provides a place for any student to become involved through a variety of positions. Committee chairs will be celebrated, utilized and challenged through their positions on the board. They will receive a hands-on experience of the diverse and engaging events the board offers.

SAB brings more than 100 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
