SAB’s Cultural Arts Committee Unveils Dana Harper Solo Exhibition

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 4, 2014) — Bloom bloom goes the room for Dana Harper’s new solo exhibit. The Student Activities Board Cultural Arts Committee is proud to present an ongoing exhibit devoted entirely to the works of artist Dana Harper, known primarily for her work of art BLOOM BLOOM. A reception will be held for its unveiling from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Rasdall Gallery, located in the Student Center on UK's campus, and will remain until Dec. 15. WRFL will also be present for the reception.

Harper’s works are known for portraying themes of gender and beauty through their bright imagery and unusual mediums. Her art has been displayed all over the country, most notably in Penn State’s Zoller Art Gallery, the Voodoo Music Festival, the Electric Forest in Rothbury, Michigan, and even Lexington’s own Boomslang Festival. In the coming months, Harper will be showing her work at the Peach Music Festival in Scranton, New Jersey, the Electric Zoo in Brooklyn, and the Pink Moon Festival in West Virginia.

“This is an exciting event for the Cultural Arts Committee,” Melissa Simon, SAB director of cultural arts, said. “This is one of our first exhibitions where we are bringing in a solo artist to have her work displayed, and students will be able to talk with Dana about her work at the reception.”
