Survey Says - SAB Needs Your Help!

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 12, 2009) – Did you love the Jason Mraz concert last year? Did you have a great time at Campus Ruckus and Student Center Spectacular? Are you excited about Homecoming? All of these events are hosted by UK's Student Activities Board (SAB). Now SAB is asking for your help deciding what events, acts and entertainment to bring to campus next semester.
Beginning today, students are encouraged to click on the link in the all student e-mail they received or visit SAB's Web site at www.uksab.org and complete the survey. The survey will be up from Oct. 12 to Oct. 16. Students who complete the survey will be entered in a random drawing for an Amazon Kindle. The winner will be notified via e-mail and only full time UK students are eligible for the drawing.
"Prior to a few years ago, the directors at SAB primarily used intuition to decide which events to bring to UK," Alan Herbst, SAB director of market research, said. "Recently, we began to increase our focus on surveying in the hopes that we can bring talent that our peers really want. Last semester SAB increased its commitment to research by creating a director's position wholly committed to research. We not only want to learn what events students want to see at UK but also want to learn why students want particular types of events."
The survey should take students about 10 minutes to complete.
"The survey covers the entire range of events that we want to bring to UK," Herbst added. "We are giving students a choice of popular comedians, musicians and pop culture figures. More importantly, we survey traditional events such as Homecoming and the Little Kentucky Derby to find out how we can make the traditions of campus stronger and more attractive."
