UK Opens Student Financial Wellness Center

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 30, 2017) — The University of Kentucky is excited to announce the grand opening of the Student Financial Wellness Center today, Monday, Jan. 30. The center is located in 302 Patterson Hall with a team of experts to help guide students in their financial journey.

The UK Financial Wellness team and the MoneyCATS program, powered by PNC Bank, will provide students with the tools and support they need to build a strong foundation for their financial future.

"The opening of the Student Financial Wellness Center is an enormous step in continuing the university's mission of promoting excellence in education and student growth and well-being," said Tiffany Jackson, director of the Student Financial Wellness Center.

The university has partnered with iGrad to provide students with access to an award-winning financial literacy platform. On the iGrad platform students can explore articles, videos, calculators, games, modules and more. A few of the topics covered are:

  • Budgeting
  • Saving and investing
  • Scholarships and financial aid (including FAFSA and Student Loan updates)
  • Financing life beyond undergraduate, graduate school and professional careers

"With this resource, our students will have an opportunity to tap into several layers of expertise and literacy to foster their evolving financial questions and goals," Jackson said. "Our goal is to ensure students have a comfortable environment to connect and engage financial literacy lessons to their own life successes."

To access iGrad, students should visit www.uky.edu/financialwellness/igrad. From there, they should select “current student” and use their LinkBlue credentials to log in.
