LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 31, 2022)  The 2022-2023 student residential (R) parking permits will go on sale beginning Wednesday, June 1, for returning residential students with a 2022-2023 campus housing assignment.

This priority pre-sale window is available for returning students only, on a first-come, first-served basis and will continue through Friday, June 10.

Once the pre-sale window closes, all remaining residential parking permits will be offered for sale to the broader on-campus student residential population, regardless of class standing. Sales to all residential students will begin at noon Tuesday, June 14, and will continue until permits are sold out.

Parking permits are priced based upon proximity and predictability. R2, R5 and R7 residential permits for the new academic year cost $504. Residential permits for the Green Lot (R10) cost $336 for the academic year. Permits for Shawneetown and Greg Page Apartments (R19) cost $168. (R19 permits go on sale later this summer, starting on Thursday, July 7).

Residential permits are only available for purchase for a full academic year.

Students who choose to purchase a residential permit are required to park within their designated area.

Additional parking permit options are available for residential students who are seeking a less expensive alternative or who do not require or desire regular or proximate access to their vehicle. Periphery (K) parking is available for purchase by the semester ($136) or by the full academic year ($272). Remote parking is available for $168 for the full academic year.

For students who choose to park on campus, note that 2022-2023 parking permits will be valid beginning Saturday, Aug. 13, and must be displayed upon arrival. Residential permits will also be activated for entry and exit from gated parking structures beginning Saturday, Aug. 13.

Permit renewal time also offers students a good opportunity to consider other methods of transportation to, from and around campus, rather than single occupancy vehicles. Transportation Services offers several attractive incentives to encourage both employees and students to consider sustainable options, such as biking, busing, walking or ride sharing.
