Free HPV vaccinations available to UK students

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 20, 2023) — UK Retail Pharmacies will offer free HPV vaccinations for University of Kentucky students from 1-4 p.m.,  Friday, April 21, in Roselle Hall, 125 Avenue of Champions; and1-4 p.m., Monday, April 24 in University Flats, 1160 University Drive. Any student can stop by for a vaccine.

The HPV vaccine can prevent more than 90% of cancers caused by the human papillomavirus including vaginal, cervical,and vulvar pre-cancers in women and anal cancer in both men and women.

While the best age to receive the HPV vaccine is 11-12 years old, the CDC now recommends that anyone – male or female – up to age 26, get the vaccine if they have not had it already. The vaccine is given as a series of either two or three doses, depending on the age at the initial vaccination.

Can’t make the event? UK Retail Pharmacies also offers a wide range of point-of-care services, including HPV vaccinations. Services vary by location, so visit ukpharmacy.org for more information and to request an appointment.
