LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan 16, 2026)  — University of Kentucky students can score free or discounted Uber rides this semester using UK Transportation Services’ Wildcab Vouchers Program.

Students are eligible to participate in the free Wildcab Vouchers program, made possible by a partnership between UK Transportation Services, the UK Student Government Association, and Uber.

Details

  • Wildcab Vouchers provides students with vouchers for up to 10 rides per semester. Each voucher is worth $10.
  • Vouchers are valid Thursday through Sunday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for rides anywhere within Fayette County.
  • Students are responsible for any amount over the initial $10 when redeeming a ride voucher; however, many rides within the service area cost $10 or less, in which case rides will be free to the student.

Students also have the option to redeem a voucher on a ride or save it for a future trip. Tips for drivers are extra and are the financial responsibility of the student. Additional voucher terms and conditions may apply upon redemption.

Sign up for this program at transportation.uky.edu/wildcab-vouchers. The voucher will be available immediately and will be added to the student’s Uber account wallet for use during program service hours. Vouchers expire at the end of each semester, but students can sign up for the program at any time during the semester.

“Wildcab Vouchers provide a seamless and responsible transportation solution, empowering students with a reliable transit option that supports the modern campus experience,” said James Hutchins, associate director for UK Transportation Services.

During the Fall 2025 semester, students took 19,128 trips using a voucher, up from 13,546 during the spring semester.

Wildcab Vouchers leverages Uber’s vast network of drivers to ensure reliable transportation is available to students when it’s needed the most. For details about the program and to sign up for this free student benefit, visit transportation.uky.edu/wildcab-vouchers

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
