Ready, set, spring! End-of-semester checklist for UK students
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 12, 2025) — As the weather chills, and the fall semester draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to hit pause and prepare for a strong return in the spring.
Whether you’re heading home for the break or staying on campus, a little planning goes a long way. Be sure you’re ready to start the Spring 2026 semester smoothly with this handy checklist:
-
Ensure you’re registered for classes.
Make sure you’re enrolled in the courses you need — or want — for next semester and double-check your degree audit to stay on track toward graduation. If you have not yet registered, make sure any account holds are resolved so you can register. Questions? Connect with your Academic Advisor.
-
File your FAFSA.
It’s never too late to file. Submitting the FAFSA each year helps students access financial support through scholarships, grants and federal aid.
-
Review schedule changes and closures during Winter Break.
Many offices and campus facilities have adjusted hours or closures during breaks. -
Make sure your WildCard Mobile ID is up-to-date.
Students who get a new phone are advised to install their Mobile ID on the new device before returning to campus. Here are instructions for Apple users and instructions for Android users.
-
Grab a spring meal plan or add extra Flex Dollars.
Whether you’re living on or off campus, having a dining plan or extra Flex dollars makes grabbing meals, snacks or coffee on campus more convenient.
-
Sign up for UK Alerts and the SafeZone App.
Stay informed and stay safe. UK Alerts keeps you updated on emergencies and campus closures, while the SafeZone app provides direct access to campus safety resources at your fingertips.
-
Rest and recharge.
Leading up to finals and after the semester has ended, take time to unwind and reset. Focus on your well-being and come back ready to start the new year strong.
A little preparation now can make a big difference later — finish strong this fall, Wildcats, and set yourself up for a successful spring semester ahead.
