UK Advising to host ‘Gettin' Classy’ registration party

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 3, 2023) Are you stressed about registering for classes? If so, you’re not alone.

Building a course schedule can be overwhelming. But the University of Kentucky Office of Academic Advising, housed in the Office for Student Success, is here to support you.

Starting Monday, April 10, through Thursday, April 14, students can attend Gettin’ Classy — a campuswide event to register for Summer and Fall 2023 classes.

Each day, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Social Staircase in the Gatton Student Center, staff members from Academic Advising, the Office of the University Registrar and the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships will be available to provide more information and answer any questions.

Bring your friends, because there will also be a 360-photo booth, free T-shirts and music!

“We know that the process of registering for classes can be stressful for our students, and it tends to happen at a time in the academic calendar that is already high pressure,” Adam Smith, executive director of academic advising, said. “Gettin’ Classy is UK’s way of taking an often intimidating process and hosting it in a low stress atmosphere. Our advising community and campus partners look forward to helping students set-up summer and fall classes in a fun and easy to access environment”

Students are encouraged to bring their laptop or iPad to register for classes while at the event. For more information about Gettin’ Classy or to RSVP click here.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
