LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 26, 2026) —In an effort to promote student health and safety as well as comply with federal law, the University of Kentucky is launching an online training course on hazing awareness and prevention. The course is designed to help students recognize hazing and learn how to prevent it.

This online course is for all current students at both the undergraduate and graduate level and is a one-time requirement. Course completion will take approximately one hour. Students who entered UK as first-time freshmen, transfers or graduate/professional students in Fall 2025 should have already completed the course.

“Knowing that we all contribute to preventing hazing and creating a safe and supportive campus environment, courses like this help the UK community learn important skills that can be applied to reduce harm and eliminate problematic behaviors,” said Dan Bureau, associate vice president for student well-being “Hazing is an issue that shows up in many places, and arming students with skills to intervene is essential.”

Students will receive an email with more information about this requirement and how to access the courseThey will need internet access with audio capabilities to complete the course and may do so in multiple sittings if need be. All students are asked to complete the course by Feb. 27.
