LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 28, 2022) — Spring has sprung in the Bluegrass! Here is a list of things you should experience as the weather gets warmer in our beloved city.

Local Restaurants — There are so many amazing restaurants in Lexington. Here is a complete list. Pick one and try it out!

Cheer on the Cats – From baseball and softball to the Kentucky football Blue-White Spring Game, there is always an athletic event to attend.

Keeneland — As a place best known for its horse racing, Keeneland has meets in both the fall and spring. Even if the spring meet is sold out, Keeneland is open to the public every day. If you simply want to visit the beautifully landscaped grounds (maybe take a few great insta photos), have breakfast at the track kitchen or enjoy the thrill of horse racing, Keeneland is a place for everyone.

Raven Run Nature Sanctuary — Raven Run is a unique, 734-acre nature sanctuary located just outside of Lexington. With seven trails to explore, this is the perfect place for hiking and wildlife viewing. The best part? The park borders the Kentucky River and has amazing views.

The Lexington Mural Challenge — Lexington has beautiful, imaginative and thought-provoking street art just about everywhere you look. Take the Mural Challenge and see how many you can find and take a picture with.

Lexington Farmers' Market — The Lexington Farmers' Market operates a year-round market on Saturdays in downtown Lexington in Henry A. Tandy Centennial Park, and markets are open various days throughout the week in other locations. This is a great place for fresh veggies, products and more from Kentucky farmers.

The Arboretum — Located on UK’s Campus, The Arboretum is the State Botanical Garden of Kentucky. This 100-acre green space offers three main features: the Walk Across Kentucky, the Home Demonstration Garden and the Kentucky Children's Garden. Come take a stroll or just visit for the beautiful landscaping.

Take the Scenic Route — There’s no better way to take in the immense beauty of both Lexington and the Bluegrass than by taking a good look around. VisitLex’s driving and walking tours are the perfect way to not only explore the area during spring, but learn about our destination while you do.

The University of Kentucky is increasingly the first choice for students, faculty and staff to pursue their passions and their professional goals. In the last two years, Forbes has named UK among the best employers for diversity, and INSIGHT into Diversity recognized us as a Diversity Champion four years running. UK is ranked among the top 30 campuses in the nation for LGBTQ* inclusion and safety. UK has been judged a “Great College to Work for" three years in a row, and UK is among only 22 universities in the country on Forbes' list of "America's Best Employers."  We are ranked among the top 10 percent of public institutions for research expenditures — a tangible symbol of our breadth and depth as a university focused on discovery that changes lives and communities. And our patients know and appreciate the fact that UK HealthCare has been named the state’s top hospital for five straight years. Accolades and honors are great. But they are more important for what they represent: the idea that creating a community of belonging and commitment to excellence is how we honor our mission to be not simply the University of Kentucky, but the University for Kentucky.
