Hoops Fall Short at No. 3 Notre Dame
Natalie Novosel's 23 points led five Irish women in double figures, Skylar Diggins had a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists, and No. 3 Notre Dame won 92-83 Sunday to hand No. 8 Kentucky its first loss of the season. Samantha Drake had 21 points for Kentucky (10-1). After trailing by as much as 10 in the second half, Drake made a layup to give Kentucky a 75-74 lead with 5:07 to play. But Novosel made a pair of free throws and Devereaux Peters scored on a layup. After a missed Kentucky 3-pointer, Diggins coolly drilled a 3 - her first of the game. Novosel converted two free throws. Peters then made an easy layup and, just like that, the Irish were back up 85-75 with 2:40 to play.
