Four from UK Men’s Soccer Named NSCAA All-Region

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Four Kentucky men’s soccer players – Callum Irving, Napo Matsoso, Jordan Wilson and Stefan Stojkovic – were named All-Southeast Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. Kentucky had four all-region selections for the second season in a row.Irving, a senior, and juniors Matsoso and Wilson made the all-region first team after they led UK to its first Conference USA regular-season title. The trio repeated as first team all-region selections.As first team selections they are now eligible for All-America consideration.Stojkovic was named to the second team. The sophomore earned his first all-region honor.Season factsKentucky went 7-0-1 in C-USA action, marking just the fourth time in C-USA history a team went undefeated in league play. For the second time in as many seasons, goalkeeper Irving garnered three C-USA men's soccer specialty awards as he was voted the Conference USA Player of the Year, the Conference USA Defensive MVP and a First-Team All-C-USA selection -- all accolades he was bestowed a year ago. He also repeated as recipient of the Golden Glove Award, given to the goalkeeper who posts the most shutouts in C-USA play. Irving posted a 0.66 goals-against average (11th, NCAA) in 19 matches in 2015, totaling nine shutouts. Seven of the clean sheets came against C-USA opponents as he notched a 0.12 goals-against average, allowing just one goal in eight conference matches (773:45 minutes). Irving was named All-America by the NSCAA last season.Matsoso and Wilson were also First-Team All-C-USA selections in 2015. Matsoso started 15 games at midfield, leading the team with 14 points on four goals, three of which were game-winners, and six assists. He missed the final two games of 2015 with a groin injury.Wilson anchored a Wildcat back line that boasted a shutout percentage of 0.53 (11th, NCAA) and a team goals-against average of 0.66 (8th, NCAA). The defender has contributed on offense, scoring the game-winning goal against South Carolina and adding two assists on the season. Wilson missed the last game of the season with an arm injury.Stojkovic led the team in goals with five, including two game-winners – notably one in the second overtime at then-No. 21 New Mexico on Oct. 4. He missed the last three games of the season with a leg injury.
