UKTF's Kiah Seymour Named Academic All-District

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Track and Field’s Kiah Seymour earned a spot on the District Two Academic All-District team for track & field/cross country, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced. Seymour is one of 13 student-athletes to represent the Southeastern Conference on an all-district team.CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in the 1950s, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions.  The program team is in its fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America teams, divided into eight geographic districts.  Kentucky resides in District 2, which also includes institutions from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at her current institution, and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s competition.  Seymour currently maintains a 3.66 GPA in sport leadership.Already pursuing a graduate degree at Kentucky, Seymour has made an immediate impact on the UK track and field program since transferring from Penn State at the start of the season.  She is a double qualifier to the NCAA Outdoor Championships as she will represent the Wildcats in both the 400-meter hurdles and in the 4x400m relay pool.  Seymour has had an outstanding season in the 400H, ranking No. 3 in the nation in 55.20 seconds, a time that is also No. 2 on the UK all-time performance list.  During the indoor season, Seymour was an All-SEC performer for the 4x400m relay that went on to take All-America honors with a sixth-place finish at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.  Seymour provided the fastest split of the quartet, anchoring the relay in 51.79 seconds.  Prior to joining the Wildcats, Seymour was an eight-time NCAA All-American at Penn State and a four-time B1G champion, claiming titles indoors in the 400m and outdoors in the 400H.  She is also a three-time USATF national championships qualifier.All-district honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.  The Division I Academic All-America teams will be announced on Friday, June 24.
