LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky’s women’s tennis program announced its 2016-17 fall and spring schedule on Friday, with the Wildcats hosting a total of 11 home matches in the upcoming spring season. The Wildcats’ fall slate starts off on Friday, Sept. 30 with the Northwestern Invitational in Evanston, Ill., which will run through Sunday, Oct. 30. From there, UK heads to Nashville, Tenn. for the Vanderbilt Invite, Oct. 7-9, before heading back to the Volunteer State for the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Oct. 20-24. Southeastern Conference foe Alabama will host a Fall Invitational on Oct. 28-30 before the Cats wrap up fall competition with the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in New York, Nov. 3-6.Kentucky travels to Huntington, W. Va., for the opening match of 2017, taking on Marshall before heading to warmer weather in Coral Gables, Fla., for the Miami Spring Invite. Fans will be able to see the Wildcats in Lexington for the first time on Jan. 24, when UK hosts both Miami (OH) and Eastern Kentucky in the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.The Wildcats have once again been selected to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend, and will head to Atlanta, Ga., on Jan. 27-29 to face host team Georgia Tech along with UCLA and Penn for a chance to compete in the spring ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. Should Kentucky advance, it would head to New Haven, Conn., on Feb. 10-13, with a match against Big Tenn member Penn State in between the two tournaments on Feb. 4. Kentucky ends its nonconference portion of the schedule at the end of February, hosting a pair of Ivy League opponents in Lexington with Columbia on Feb. 24 and Princeton on Feb. 26.The SEC schedule starts on the road with UK facing Georgia and Tennessee on March 3 and 5, respectively, before returning home to host Ole Miss (March 10), Mississippi State (March 12) and Vanderbilt (March 19). The Wildcats alternate away and home weekends for the remainder of the schedule, traveling to Alabama and Auburn on March 24 and 26 before hosting Arkansas and Missouri on March 31 and April 2. The final road swing of the regular season will be on April 7 and 9 against LSU and Texas A&M, followed by the final homestand hosting Florida on April 14 and South Carolina for Senior Day on April 16. Vanderbilt will host the 2017 SEC Tournament, which runs from April 19-24 in Nashville.The complete 2016-17 schedule is listed below.
