Campus community invited to celebrate UK Founders Day
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2024) — The University of Kentucky Alumni Association invites the community to celebrate UK's 159th birthday on Feb. 22, 2024, at the UK Founders Day Festival. The annual festival will take place on the second floor of the Gatton Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The third annual UK Founders Day Festival commemorates the day John Bryan Bowman founded the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Kentucky University in 1865. The event includes a variety of activities, games, giveaways, snacks and music. Attendees also have a chance to win an exclusive UK Founders Day T-shirt.
The event is open to the campus and community, offering an opportunity to commemorate and honor the rich history of the University of Kentucky. Admission is free and additional details can be found at www.ukalumni.net/FoundersDay.
As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
