LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2024) — Registration to be a DanceBlue volunteer is now open. Every year, DanceBlue needs hundreds of volunteers to ensure that the marathon runs smoothly. These volunteers assist with meals, run the water stations, manage bag check and more to make sure that the dancers have everything they need to keep dancing all marathon long.

Students, friends, family and community members are all welcome to volunteer.

Volunteers can sign up for one of 12 shifts. To sign up, volunteers must be 16 or older and purchase a volunteer ticket. Each general shift ticket is $30 and each meal hour shift ticket is $15. Discounts are available to UK students and staff with discount codes “UKSTUDENT” and “UKEMPLOYEE.”

All volunteers who sign up by 8 a.m. Monday, March 11 will be guaranteed a T-shirt.

Tickets and more information are available here.

For questions or interest in volunteering for more than one shift, please contact volunteer@danceblue.org.

DanceBlue is a University of Kentucky student-run organization that fundraises year-round and culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon. Over $20 million has been raised since 2006, making DanceBlue one of the largest student-run philanthropies in the Southeastern Conference. As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
