Experts to Appraise Art for Repair, Cleaning

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 23, 2011) − The Art Museum at the University of Kentucky will be hosting a conservation clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the museum. Cynthia Stow, from Nashville's Cumberland Art Conservation Center, will be on hand to appraise paintings and give estimates on such services as repair and cleaning.

"The Art Museum at UK has used the Cumberland Art Conservation Center for conservation work on pieces in the museum’s permanent collection for a number of years. We are pleased to have Cynthia Stow of the Cumberland Art Conservation Center share her expertise by conducting conservation appraisals," said Lisa Blackadar, exhibition assistant at the Art Museum at UK.

Appraisal and estimations are free. To make an appointment, contact Bebe Lovejoy at (859) 257-2808. Appointments are scheduled for 30-minute time frames. At publication, there were two appointments left.

Appointments will be held at the Art Museum at UK, located on the university campus at 405 Rose St. There are five parking spots designated for the museum in the back lot of the Singletary Center for the Arts.
