High school students invited to ‘Your Future in Motion’ open house

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 11, 2026) —​ High school students are invited to attend the “Your Future in Motion” open house at the University of Kentucky. 

This event offers an inside look at majors in sport, health, leadership and community services within the UK College of Education. It will take place Monday, March 9, in Gatton Student Center Ballrooms B and C. The open house follows a structured program from 9:30-11:45 a.m. and attendees are encouraged to participate for the full session. 

Registration is open for school groups planning field trips (bus parking available) or for individual prospective students and their guests.  

Majors on display at the event will include: 

  • Kinesiology – Exercise SciencePrepares students for careers as exercise physiologists, strength and conditioning coaches, wellness coordinators or rehabilitation specialists, and serves as strong preparation for advanced study in fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, medicine, dentistry, physician assistant and other health professions. 

  • Sport LeadershipPrepares students for careers as sports managers, athletics directors, coaches or event coordinators, equipping them with expertise in leadership, sports marketing and organizational management across professional, collegiate or recreational settings. 

  • Health Promotion: Prepares students for careers in public health, wellness coaching, community health education and corporate wellness, equipping them with skills in program planning, health behavior change and disease prevention. 

  • Leadership for Community Education and Human LearningPrepares students for careers in organizations that promote learning, development and community well-beingequipping them to design and implement programs that foster lifelong learning and strengthen communities.  

  • Interdisciplinary Disability Studies: Prepares students for careers in advocacy, education, health care, social work or public policy, equipping them to empower individuals with disabilities to live independent, fulfilling lives. 

“In addition to our world class teacher preparation programs, the College of Education offers a wide range of majors that prepare students to lead, serve and make a meaningful impact in sport, health, leadership and community settings,” said UK College of Education Dean Nick Pace, Ed.D. “This event is designed to give high school students an inside look at what’s possible in those fields.”
