Second Annual Light up the Night Ride is Friday, Nov. 2

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 26, 2018) — Turn up the lights on your bike during UK Transportation Services’ second annual Light Up the Night Ride.

Deck out your bicycle with lights and gather at the Bowman Statue near the Gatton Student Center beginning 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. Take a brief, but brilliantly-lit ride around campus. The bike that beams the brightest will win a $20 gift card for use in the UK Bookstore.

Don’t have lights for your bicycle? UK Transportation Services will distribute free front-and-rear lights to UK students and employees who need them.

“We have a lot of fun with this event,” said Sandra Broadus, manager of alternative transportation at UK Transportation Services. “This is a light-hearted way to highlight the very real need to brighten up our bikes during the fall and winter seasons, especially since many people are caught unprepared when daylight savings ends and it’s suddenly dark so early.”
