UK employees invited to attend UK HR retirement conference events
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 16, 2024) — University of Kentucky employees considering retirement soon, or who just want information on retirement, are invited to attend retirement conference events from UK Human Resources in October.
“The retirement series is a wonderful opportunity for our employees nearing retirement to gain knowledge on areas such as retirement income, health insurance and health and well-being,” said Gail Carbol, HR benefits manager. “Employees want a better understanding of the retirement eligibility and process, as well as costs of their insurance. One of the most popular sessions is on retirement health benefits offered by the UK retirement officers, Terri Kanatzar, Juliet Souders and Coleman Simpson, who organize the conference and work one-on-one with employees preparing to retire.”
UK HR leaders say employees want a better understanding of retirement eligibility and the retirement process, as well as cost. The retirement conference is a great way to not only get information about eligibility, but also benefits still available after retirement, how to continue working at UK post-retirement and how to navigate living through retirement.
The retirement conference is Oct. 21-30. Several events are at the Gatton Student Center, while others are virtual. The sessions for the conference are:
- Oct. 21: Social Security Update; 25 Documents with CAPTRUST; and UK Retirement Health Benefits, 8 a.m.-noon.
- Oct. 22: STEPS Employment Post Retirement, noon-1 p.m. via Zoom and in-person at Gatton Student Center, Grand Ballrooms A and B (maximum in-person attendance: 250).
- Oct. 24: The Good Life in Retirement: Meaning, Purpose and Psychological Well-being, noon-1 p.m. via Zoom
- Oct. 25: Explore Passions Through Lifelong Learning, noon-1 p.m. via Zoom
- Oct. 28: Write Your Next Chapter: 5 Steps to Setting Your Retirement Date, noon-1 p.m. via Zoom
- Oct. 29: UK Retiree Prescription Benefit Review: Pre-65 and Medicare, noon-1 p.m. via Zoom
- Oct. 30: How to Plan for the Income You’ll Need in Retirement with Fidelity, noon-1 p.m. via Zoom
