UK School of Interiors Hosts Design Exchange Oct. 5-6

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 2, 2017) As a way for industry professionals, educators and students to have a platform for sharing ideas, the School of Interiors in the University of Kentucky College of Design has created dxuky to be held Oct. 5 and 6.

This design exchange is a two-day event providing a think tank environment for students to interface with working professionals, a hands-on workshop, conversations about the future of interior design in the academy, and a design chat from a well-seasoned professional about pathways in design.

Educators from the region are encouraged to join the conversation, either on the ground at UK or online, to share work, encourage collaboration and extend your professional network.

The schedule for this two-day event includes:

5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5 | What’s NEXT?

A UK IDSA (Interior Design Student Association) and the Ohio Kentucky Chapter of  IIDA (International Interior Design Association) sponsored event that will include a showcase of portfolios from third and fourth year students followed by a panel discussion of UK alumni with: Dan Colvin, IIDA, CID, senior principal at Ross Tarrant Architects; Clare Henson, owner of Market on National; Jordan Powell Hope, NCIDQ, IIDA, LEED, department manager of interior design at Luckett & Farley; Sarah Marks, project manager at Matthew Carter Interiors; and Darci Puryear, CCTS, Industry IIDA, architectural and design specifications manager with Louisville Tile. 9 a.m.-noon Friday, Oct. 6 | Student Workshop

Roberto Ventura, Virginia Commonwealth University

Students from the School of Interiors will join an award-winning teacher to learn new skills/approaches for their work.

Noon-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 | Conversations with Regional Programs

Spokespeople from regional educational institutions will share their thoughts on the future of interior design. Location: Peace Gallery, Funkhouser Building, Room 103.
