Combined Ob/Gyn Clinics Will Improve Service
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 15, 2010) − To provide comprehensive women’s health care, the University of Kentucky Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is combining four clinical practices into one convenient facility located on the first floor of the Medical Office Building at 125 East Maxwell Street next to UK HealthCare's Good Samaritan Hospital. Phase one of the consolidation, which moved the Kentucky Women's Health Services at Kentucky Clinic East to the Maxwell Street location, is complete and open to see patients today.
Phase two of the consolidation will take place in March, when the Bluegrass High Risk Obstetrics Clinic, including obstetric and gynecology ultrasound operations, will relocate to the Maxwell Street location. The third and final phase of the consolidation will move Bluegrass Women's Health at Kentucky Clinic South and Reproductive Endocrinology by June 30, 2010 to the Maxwell Street location. Labor and Delivery will remain at Chandler Hospital. The Division of Gynecology/Oncology will remain at Markey Cancer Center.
The consolidation of the four clinical practices to the Maxwell Street centralized location, provides for easy and free parking and the convenience of having multiple services in one facility. The office phone numbers patients currently use will remain the same.
"This newly remodeled clinic is designed to provide care for women through all stages of her life: adolescence, pregnancy, midlife and menopause," said Dr. Wendy Hansen, associate professor and interim chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. "Our defining goal is to provide state-of- the-art personalized care for all women; to be the leaders in women’s care."
U.S. News and World Report rankings place UK Chandler Hospital among the nation's best in gynecology. Only 174 hospitals in the United States made the list. UK's Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology was ranked No. 40 for gynecology in the nation and No. 1 for gynecology in Kentucky.
