Heart Recipient Is Thankful for New Lease on Life

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 19, 2010) –  Dolphy Dickerson of Huntington, W.Va., spent last holiday season in the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, waiting for a new heart. Too ill to go home, he celebrated the holidays with his family at his side in the hospital. After 101 days on the organ transplant waiting list, Dickerson received hope in the form of a new heart. This year he will celebrate Thanksgiving at home, with renewed health thanks to a heart transplant performed by UK HealthCare physicians. Throughout the transplant process, the Dickerson family grew close with the entire UK transplant team.
