Rubber Meets the Road in Palomar Neighborhood

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 11, 2010) — Rubber sneaker soles will be pounding the pavement in the Palomar area of Lexington tonight, as UK HealthCare, the UK Stroke Center, the American Heart Association and Urban Active Fitness present the first in a series of Start! community fitness events. The event will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Palomar location of Urban Active Fitness, at 1028 Wellington Way in Lexington. Free stroke screenings by UK HealthCare clinical staff, fitness demonstrations and gym tours will be offered. At 6:30, a special fitness program will show kids how fun it is to "Start!" being physically active. At 7 p.m., all are welcome to take advantage of 1-mile walking course laid out through the Palomar neighborhood. Free t-shirts will be available to the first 100 walkers to register at the event. The Start! program encourages people to begin a regular walking program, increase their physical activity and embrace a heart-healthy lifestyle.
