Calipari and Team Visit Kentucky Children's Hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 5, 2010) – University of Kentucky Men's Basketball Coach John Calipari, coaches and several members of the UK men's basketball team brightened the day for young patients when they made a visit on Dec. 22  to Kentucky Children's Hospital.  

        

The children and their families were thrilled when the team members visited and signed autographs and posed for photos with them. Everyone congratulated the coaches and team for the historic 2,000th win.

"We really appreciate Coach Cal and the other coaches bringing the team to our Kentucky Children's Hospital," said Dr. Tim Bricker, professor and chairman of pediatrics, UK College of Medicine, and physician-in-chief of Kentucky Children's Hospital. "We also appreciate Coach Cal for contributing to the best in care for children at the Kentucky Children's Hospital."

This year, Coach Calipari and Papa John's President Jude Thompson donated $50,000 to Kentucky Children's Hospital. And, a donation of $5,000 was given to Kentucky Children's Hospital on behalf of the Calipari Family Foundation for Children during the "Bounce Back " kick-off book tour at the Fayette County UK Alumni Club.

Kentucky Children's Hospital works to improve the lives and health of children and to provide a more optimistic future for their families. More than 70 pediatric specialists, 300 pediatric nurses and an impressive number of respiratory therapists, dieticians, social workers, pharmacists and child-life specialists are dedicated to caring for children. Each year, Kentucky Children's Hospital admits more than 6,000 children and serves another 60,000 through emergency care, clinics and outreach programs.
