Stitches Gets a Web Site

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 8, 2009) – Stitches, the lovable mascot of Kentucky Children's Hospital, has a Web site. Launched recently, the site actually resides on the Kentucky Children's Hospital Web site.
Cynde Estep, service line marketing for UK HealthCare, initiated Stitches' site working with members of the UK HealthCare Web team.
"Working with Stitches is a lot of fun, and we know how much children and families love our mascot," said Estep. "We designed the site to include pictures, games, experiments, a list of upcoming events and some information for parents."
Several months ago, the Stitches illustration received a makeover. It was part of an ongoing effort to make Stitches' cartoon appearance more modern and appealing.
Stitches is a kitten and attends numerous events not only on campus, but throughout the state. Kentucky Children's Hospital began the mascot program almost three years ago.
"Stitches will be handing out a postcard announcing the new site," said Estep. "The postcard also asks kids and parents to become a fan of our Facebook page."
“Stitches is definitely a member of our Kentucky Children’s Hospital team,” said Dr. Tim Bricker, Jacqueline Noonan Children's Miracle Network Professor and chair of Pediatrics, University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and physician-in-chief of Kentucky Children's Hospital. “Children and adults identify our hospital with Stitches. And our staff is enthusiastic about having this fun mascot. We hope children, tweens, teens and families will visit Stitches' new Web site. It's full of information for all."
