Vote for Kentucky Children's Hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2009) – University of Kentucky men's basketball coach John Calipari has tickets to UK’s Big Blue Madness on Oct. 16 that he would like to donate to a local charity that supports children. On his Web site, CoachCal.com, a poll will be held from Friday through Wednesday (Oct 9-14) asking users on his site to decide to which charity the tickets should go.

"The Kentucky Children’s Hospital is on the ballot and we’d like to encourage you to reach out to all your friends through Facebook, Twitter, etc. and ask them to vote for Kentucky Children's Hospital," said Mark Slover, director of development for Kentucky Children's Hospital.

Kentucky Children's Hospital works to improve the lives and health of children and to provide a more optimistic future for their families. More than 70 pediatric specialists, 300 pediatric nurses and an impressive number of respiratory therapists, dieticians, social workers, pharmacists and child-life specialists are dedicated to caring for children. Each year, Kentucky Children's Hospital admits more than 6,000 children and serves another 60,000 through emergency care, clinics and outreach programs.

The winning charity will be notified on Wednesday morning, Oct.14.  If selected, Kentucky Children's Hospital will send a child and his or her family to attend the 2009 Big Blue Madness.
