Policastri Named Executive Vice President for KSHP
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 21, 2012) — Anne Policastri, a University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy alumnus and clinical assistant professor in the college, has been named executive vice president for the Kentucky Health System Pharmacists (KSHP).
“I am honored and thankful to have this opportunity to give back to an organization and a profession that has given me so much,” said Policastri. “I look forward to working with the KSHP Board of Directors and all KSHP members to strengthen and enhance clinical pharmacy in Kentucky.”
The KSHP position allows her to pursue her passion of advancing pharmacy practice through professional organizations while remaining a full time member of UK’s faculty.
Policastri, who is director of experiential education for the UK College of Pharmacy, is a long-time member of KSHP. She was president of KSHP in 2002-03 and recognized as a Fellow of the society in 2005. She completed her undergraduate work at Western Kentucky University before coming to UK to earn her PharmD. She received her Master’s in business administration from Murray State University.
Prior to accepting a faculty position at UK in 2007, Policastri worked in a variety of clinical and administrative settings across Kentucky. She has remained active in professional organizations throughout her career. In addition to her service with KSHP, she served as president of the Kentucky Pharmacists Association from 1996-1997 and was a member of the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy from 2007 to 2010.
Policastri has received several awards and honors for her service to the professional years including: Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmacy Leadership Award (twice); UK College of Pharmacy Preceptor of the Year; Merck Pharmacist Achievement Award; and the McKesson Drug Company Leadership Award, among others.
