LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 19, 2023)  James Monroe Homes is proud to announce the launch of its #PinkDoorCares campaign to support the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. The home builder has adorned 17 new showcase and model homes with pink banners on their front doors to create awareness and raise funds for cancer prevention and treatment. James Monroe Homes will donate $5, up to $10,000, for each person who visits each home and poses for a selfie with the pink door. The campaign concludes on Sunday, May 14 at 7 p.m.

You can find these homes with the pink doors in three locations: Eastgate in Nicholasville (two homes), Barkley Meadows in Georgetown (10 homes), and Magnolia Pointe in Richmond (five homes). The doors are hard to miss, with a hot pink background and a large pink ribbon surrounded with spring flowers. Visitors can gain access to the unoccupied homes for a self-guided tour through the NterNow app from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

Individuals should scan a QR code located in the home to register the donation. The next step in the registration process is taking a photo with the pink front door. For each person in the photo, James Monroe Homes will donate $5. The more people in the photo, the greater the donation. Visitors can view up to 17 homes and register at each, knowing that they are supporting a great cause. The photo must be uploaded and submitted to record the donation amount.

"We are honored to support the UK Markey Cancer Center in their mission to provide world- class cancer care to the people of Kentucky," said James Monroe, president of James Monroe Homes. “Cancer, unfortunately, has likely touched all of our lives in some way. To James Monroe Homes, it is not about making a donation, it is about making a difference. We encourage everyone to visit our pink door homes and help us raise funds for cancer prevention and treatment."

"We are thrilled to receive the generous support of James Monroe Homes through their #PinkDoorCares campaign, which will help further Markey Cancer Center's mission to reduce the burden of cancer for all Kentuckians," said UK Markey Cancer Center Director Mark Evers, M.D. “We encourage everyone to participate by visiting these beautiful homes with the pink doors.”

The donations will not only support Markey - the pink door selfies will also help raise awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and research – particularly for breast cancer. The pink doors are inspired by a James Monroe Homes employee who is a breast cancer survivor.
